You can see one of the cockpit ribs in place here. The white piece of cardboard is cut to the same radius as the rib, and it is being used as a guide for shaving wood off the side rails. It's important and a little tedious to plane off a nice radius so that the deck doesn't just flatten out along the edge when it gets nailed in place. And, just to complicate things, the foreward rib has a greater radius than the aft one. But this is one of the more fun woodworking aspects of the project ~ nothing satisfies one's woodworking skills more than deftly putting a handplane to work. Look at all those nice shavings.
